What is the Oppi Challenge?
The Oppi Challenge was created in 2023 to find a way to fund innovative ideas for transforming education that were initiated within the Oppi community. Michael Norton from CIVA, generously initiated the idea and set up a funding pot, which quickly received match funding from two others. Alongside financial support, folk within the community are contributing their expertise pro bono.
Teams from within the community then worked on project ideas which were put to a selection committee for consideration. We are delighted that this year the Oppi Challenge will be supporting two fabulous ideas.
The Latency Project
The Latency Project is a structured approach to using Saturday mornings for students to improve their learning outcomes, building on the successful D6 programme at Matthew Moss School in Rochdale, England. Oppi Challenge will support the development of the D6 model for other schools, focusing on what’s transferable and trialling D6 ‘in a box’ versions at several other schools.
Magic Cards
Magic Cards uses design-led, Oppi-inspired thinking to help people express their ideas and unlock their natural creativity. The cards currently exist as a physical pack, and the Oppi Challenge grant will support digitisation of the cards and trialing them as a tool for school leaders, teachers and trainers.
